The Tucson International Airport (TUS) Arts and Culture Program consists of a permanent collection and three changing exhibits galleries.

Collection

In 1987 the Tucson Airport Authority Board of Directors made a commitment to acquire art for the airport. Now more than 100 original works of art by artists living in Tucson’s air service trade area, which includes Pima, Pinal, Santa Cruz, and Cochise counties and northern Sonora, Mexico, are represented in the collection.

Integrating art into the terminal structure is a component of the program. As part of the terminal expansion, art walls at the security checkpoints, on the baggage belts, and at the restrooms entrances feature original work from Arizona artists. Other sculptural art has also been integrated throughout the terminal complex.

Exhibits

In 1991 the airport initiated a temporary art exhibition program to enhance the traveling public’s experience by creating a memorable environment that promotes southern Arizona’s unique artistic and cultural heritage. Today the program boasts three galleries where displays are rotated throughout the year.
