Bruce Dusenberry Begins 2nd Year as TAA Chair
January 24, 2022
Bruce Dusenberry officially began his second year as Chair of the Tucson Airport Authority (TAA) Board of Directors on Monday, January 24. Also at its first meeting of 2022, the Board welcomed its newest director, Vance Falbaum, who was elected at the TAA annual meeting preceding the board meeting.
As a result of the bylaw amendments adopted by the Board of Directors in December 2021, Dusenberry’s term as Chair was automatically extended through January 2023.
“I am honored to continue my tenure as Chair and to work alongside such a dynamic and diverse board of directors,” Dusenberry said. “While we have witnessed unprecedented challenges with the pandemic, we have an extraordinary team at the TAA supporting Tucson International Airport and Ryan Airfield. We are excited to work nonstop for Tucson and our Southern Arizona community in ensuring the very best in class for safety, security, and customer service.”
Additionally, elected as officers of the Board for 2022 are Vice Chair Keri Silvyn, partner of Lazarus & Silvyn, P.C.; Secretary Mike Hammond, founder and principal of Cushman & Wakefield/PICOR Commercial Real Estate Services; and Treasurer Phil Swaim, president of Swaim Associates Ltd.
Falbaum is Managing Director and Financial Advisor leading the Falbaum Investment Group at RBC Wealth Management. He has been a member of the TAA since 2013.
He joins other directors Rob Draper, president and dealer principal of O’Rielly Motor Co. and O’Rielly Chevrolet; Sally Fernandez, president of Safety Dynamics, Inc.; Todd Jackson, partner of Oden & Jackson, P.C.; Judy Rich, president and chief executive officer of TMC HealthCare System.
Leaving the Board this year is Taunya Villicaña, who served seven years on the Board and was chair in 2020, and Treasurer William Assenmacher, who served six years on the Board. He also transitioned to emeritus member status after 21 years as an active member of the TAA.
The TAA Board of Directors is the governing body for the Tucson Airport Authority, a unique non-profit independent of local government that is responsible for the operation of Tucson International Airport (TUS) and Ryan Airfield (RYN).
At least seven, but no more than 11, active members of the Tucson Airport Authority are elected annually to serve on the Board of Directors. Following changes made in 2021 to bylaws, board members are elected to terms of up to three years and can be re-elected to serve up to ten years.
TAA members do not receive salaries or compensation for their roles.
